This kit is all about fun color mixing! One thing to note is that solid white paint doesn't cover well, but mixing white with another color (minus gold) gets awesome results. So grab a note pad and paper and plan out what colors you would like to create. You can even keep in mind where you would like to display the pumpkins and coordinate the colors with your home decor.
We painted 2 base coats on each pumpkin, then painted the stems after. That way we didn't have to worry about getting the pumpkin color on the stem. We used the largest brush to paint the body of the pumpkin and the two small brushes were great for the fine detail work.
We used the white paint to create each color, adding small amount of reds, blues and yellows. Sine the pumpkins need more than one coat of paint you can work on several at a time, allowing time for them the dry in-between.
We used bold colors to accent the indentations on each pumpkin. Experiment with contrasting colors for bold looks! Patterns are fun too like the ones seen at the beginning of the post. We used dots and lines on most pumpkins but you can also use the large corse brush to brush on a third layer like gold!
Have fun with patterns and colors. The steps to create a beautiful pumpkin are simple and the project is made to let your creative side shine! Enjoy painting and just keep in mind what colors compliment each other, get at least two coats on each pumpkin and they should look terrific! Don't forget to share pics of the pumpkins with us online! More details below.
